Waiver Provider Certification Training

DEPARTMENT of DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (DoDD) ANNUAL CERTIFICATION RENEWAL
This class includes Major Unusual Incident (MUI) and meets the annual training topic requirements for HCBS providers. It is REQUIRED for all Initial Applications for Independent Providers as well as annually for current Providers. It will cover the MUI/UI rule: focusing on the Independent Provider’s reporting responsibilities; Health and Welfare Alerts, Individual Rights, Self Determination, Self-Advocacy, Person-Centered Planning, Community Integration and Behavior Support. Any certified provider can take this class. Certificates are issued at the completion of class. No credit is given for partial attendance.

OVERVIEW
Overview of Serving Individuals with Developmental Disabilities is people seeking their Initial Certification as an Independent Provider. This class is not intended for providers that are already certified. Topics covered in this class include the vocabulary used in the DD field, what it means to be an Independent Provider, what is expected of an Independent Provider, common diagnoses, documentation requirements, the ISP process, Provider Compliance Reviews and Universal Precautions. Certificates are issued at the completion of class. No credit is given for partial attendance.

COMBINED CPR/FIRST AID (Blended*) & DoDD ANNUAL CERTIFICATION RENEWAL
This class provides all the required certification courses in one day at a discounted rate. However, participants can register for Certification Renewal or CPR/First Aid only at the regular rate. A digital certificate valid for two years is available for the CPR/First Aid section of the class. No credit is given for partial attendance.

BILLING AND DOCUMENTATION
Newly certified Independent Providers are required to take Billing and Documentation training within their first year of certification. All providers are required to have this training at least once. During the class, we follow an Independent Provider through the process of being added to an Individual’s ISP, verifying a Payment Authorization for Waiver Services (PAWS), creating and maintaining documentation, and submission of billing. Focus is on understanding the ISP, documentation of services and how documentation relates to billing, weather you to your own billing or use a third party. Any certified provider can take this class. Certificates are issued at the completion of class. No credit is given for partial attendance.
